Hollywood actor-director Ben Affleck has finally spoken about his divorce from Jennifer Lopez. In a recent interview with GQ, he sat down and opened up on the divorce matter that is happening from last few months now that cannot be Affleck addressed their separation, making it clear that there was no drama or scandal behind it. “There’s no soap opera, no intrigue. The truth is, when you talk to somebody, there is no single event that caused it. It’s just people trying to figure out their lives,” he explained.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez had first dated in the early 2000s, got engaged and later parted ways. But they rekindled their romance in 2021 and married 2022. However, Jennifer filed for divorce in August 2024 and the process was finalized in early 2025.
Affleck also acknowledged the differences between him and Jennifer, particularly in their approach to fame. He shared that Jennifer has “handled celebrity more adeptly and more adroitly” than he was. Many fans speculated that he seemed uncomfortable in Jennifer’s 2024 documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told. Addressing this, Affleck clarified “You don’t marry a ship captain and then say, ‘Well, I don’t like going out in the water.’ You’ve got to own what you knew going into any relationship.”
Besides discussing his divorce from Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck also talked about co-parenting with his first ex-wife Jennifer Garner. “I’m really lucky to have a great co-parent and partner in Jennifer Garner. We work well together,” he shared. Ben also mentioned how they used to remind their kids that tabloids often print exaggerated stories.
Despite the separation, Ben Affleck maintained that he has nothing but respect for Jennifer Lopez. “I have nothing but respect for her as a person,” he said.
