While she impressed audiences with her roles in various films but Aashiq Banaya Aapne (2005) remains the movie that turned Tanushree Dutta into an overnight sensation. The film which is directed by Aditya Dutt, made her one of the most talked-about newcomers of that time and soon after, rumours of Tanushree Dutta’s alleged relationship with Aditya Dutt began making headlines. Though the two never confirmed anything publicly, a throwback interview with her former manager Bholaram Malviya, sheds new light on what really went on behind the scenes.
In an exclusive throwback chat with Lehren, Bholaram who once managed Tanushree Dutta’s work and helped her sign several major films, revealed how she made some unexpected decisions during her early career. “Worst keh sakte, kya hai artist, artist hai. Maine uske liye bahut mehnat kiya tha aur mujhe lagta tha ki vo bahut achi ladki hai. Maine mehnat kiya uske liye, par maine jaise hi 2-3 picture sign bhi kara di – jaise Subhash Ghai ji, Harry Baweja aur ek south ki picture Balakrishna ke saath vo sign karayi thi,” he recalled.
According to Bholaram, everything changed when Tanushree began dating Aditya Dutt. “Suddenly kya hua, outdoor mein shooting karne gayi toh Aditya Dutt unka boyfriend tha, ek picture ki unhone saathme. Usne bola ‘Bhola mujhe suddenly 3 din ke liye Goa jana hai.’ Maine bola ‘Aap Goa mat jayiye, kisiki shooting hai, itna nuksaan..’ Fir maine producer se baat karke pyar se pataya aur usko Goa beja,” he revealed.
The manager added that this sudden trip led to a major professional setback. Tanushree was supposed to attend a big 31st December event in Kolkata where her parents were also present. However, due to her delayed arrival, organizers had to cancel and handle the situation without her. Soon after her international visit, she reportedly appointed a new manager breaking the existing contract.
