Parasite (2019) Wins Best Film of the Year at London Critics’ Circle

The critically acclaimed and much-lauded movie of last year – Parasite wins Best Film of the Year at the London Film Critics’ Circle, Bong Joon Ho wins Best Director.

‘Parasite (2019)‘ has been bagging major prizes all through the award season!

Bong Joon Ho’s masterpiece Parasite won ‘Best Film of the Year’ at the 40th edition of the London Film Critics’ Circle, and that’s not all, Bon Joon Ho even went onto win ‘Best Director’ during the victorious night.

Awards season is almost coming to an end.  The London Film Critics’ Circle’s 150-plus critics took their picks on Thursday (Jan.30).

The star-studded night was hosted by Sally Phillips and was held at London’s May Fair Hotel.

Joanna Hogg’s The Souvenir managed to win two awards – British/Irish filmmaker of the year and Young British/Irish performer (Honor Swinton Byrne) out of a total of seven nominations.

Marriage Story took home two awards winning Screenwriter of the Year for Noah Baumbach andSupporting Actress of the Year nod for Laura Dern. Joe Pesci won Supporting actor of the year for Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman and.

Continuing their red-hot streak of Best Actor & Best Actress awards, Renee Zellweger won Actress of the Year for Judy and Joaquin Phoenix won Actor of the Year for Joker.

Other notable winds during the night were: Robert Pattinson for British/Irish actor of the Year for The Lighthouse, High Life and The King and Florence Pugh for British/Irish actress of the Year for Midsommar, Little Women and Fighting with my Family.

Portrait of a Lady on Fire beat Parasite winning Foreign Language of the Year, while Mark Jenkin was named Breakthrough British/Irish filmmaker of the Year for his acclaimed, double BAFTA-nominated debut Bait. For Sama earned Documentary of the Year honors.

A special award also was presented to British animation powerhouse Aardman, while Sally Potter and Sandy Powell were selected as honorees for the Dilys Powell Award for career achievement.
