Sunjay Kapur’s Legacy: Inside the 10-Year Family Plan He Left Behind

Businessman Sunjay Kapur, who died after suffering a freak accident while playing polo some days ago, recently spoke about putting together a 10-year-plan for the future.

Businessman Sunjay Kapur, who tragically passed away in an unexpected accident a few days ago, had expressed that he had formulated a 10-year plan for his future. He also discussed the values he wishes for his four children to uphold even in his absence. Sunjay was married to actress Karisma Kapoor, with whom he shares two children, a daughter named Samara and a son named Kiaan. In an interview conducted merely three months prior to his untimely death, he elaborated on the concept of having a ‘blended family’ and his aspiration for every family member to cherish one another after he is no longer present.

During his appearance on the Indian Silicon Valley podcast, Kapur was inquired about the principles that guide his life. He stated, “For me, trust and respect hold immense significance. It is crucial for a family to unite and remain cohesive. Additionally, my wife and I engage in coaching sessions focused on parenting. Our goal is to enhance our parenting skills. We also participate in weekly coaching sessions centered around the Bhagavad Gita. I desire for my children and family to embody specific values that emphasize trust, respect, unity, and togetherness. This is of utmost importance.”

He elaborated, “It is essential for us to establish a cohesive unit. Coming from a blended family presents its challenges, but we have been fortunate to create a system in which we collaborate and care for one another. I wish for this to persist even beyond the lifetimes of my wife and myself.”

Asked about his plans for life after stepping back from an active executive position in his company, he remarked, “I am an excellent planner. In October, I drafted a 10-year plan for myself, not merely goals, but areas of focus. This includes both work-related and personal engagements. I have numerous commitments outside of work, and I am very clear about what I will pursue and what I will avoid. Sports and fitness hold significant importance for me; I actively participate in polo and lead a team, playing as frequently as possible.

However, it is equally vital for me to contribute to my family. In creating my 10-year plan, I outlined the general aspects of both work-related and personal commitments, including those related to my foundation. I detailed my plans to clarify my intentions. I am not the type of individual who can remain idle without a busy schedule. It is a tremendous privilege to control my own time.

Only three days prior to his death on June 12, 2025, Sunjay posted a contemplative message on social media: ” Your time on earth is limited; leave the what‑ifs.”
