In 2003, Sunjay Kapur entered matrimony with Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor in a prominent Sikh wedding ceremony. The couple is blessed with two children: a daughter named Samaira (born 2005) and a son named Kiaan (born 2011). Their marriage encountered difficulties, resulting in a protracted and contentious divorce process. In 2016, they concluded their divorce by mutual consent. As part of the settlement, Karisma was awarded custody of their children, while Sunjay was granted visitation rights. Furthermore, a property in Mumbai that belonged to Sunjay’s family was transferred to Karisma, and he allocated ₹14 crore in bonds to ensure their children’s financial needs were met.

Sunjay Kapur was a passionate polo enthusiast. He owned the Sona Polo team and actively took part in both domestic and international polo competitions. His enthusiasm for the sport was widely acknowledged, and he was esteemed as a significant figure within India’s polo community.
