Dreams do come true! Fans of One Direction had long hoped to see all five members perform in India, but that never happened during the band’s time together. Now, after nearly a decade since their hiatus Louis Tomlinson finally made his way to India for a solo performance at Lollapalooza 2025 on March 9, leaving Indian Louies and Directioners overjoyed!
The Walls singer shared his excitement with fans on Instagram, posting a vlog reel capturing his two-day visit and performance in Mumbai. He captioned the post, “India, that was amazing. Feels like a dream. I’ll be back! Thank you to everyone that made it so special!”
Taking the stage at 7:10 PM, Louis Tomlinson delivered an electrifying performance that had the audience roaring and Indian fans proved to be one of the loudest crowds, something he truly appreciated. And speaking to Bombay Times, he expressed his surprise at never having visited India as a band member of One Direction.
When asked about India’s growing reputation as a global music hub, he admitted, “It’s a surprise to me that we never came here with One Direction. I hear the band was big in India. It was a missed opportunity for us. Although, as you said, it is more common now with the likes of Ed Sheeran and Coldplay coming here. I feel lucky because it’s the right time to play in India.”
The conversation took an interesting turn when Louis was asked if he was familiar with Bollywood and its film culture. He responded, “I am aware of the film culture in India. I haven’t watched a Bollywood film though.” However, he left the door open for future opportunities adding, “If someone from Bollywood is listening, I’m in!”
The biggest moment of the interview came when Louis hinted at returning not just for another show but for an entire tour. When asked whether he had time to explore Mumbai, he explained, “I am taking in as much of it as possible because this trip, given the nature of the festival, we’re in and out. I’m going to spend about 48 hours here and leave right after the show, so my time is limited. But my mission is absolutely to nail the show and hopefully be able to come back and do my own tour here. And it’ll be at that time to explore, take in the culture, and eat more food.”
Louis performed songs from his solo albums Walls and Faith In The Future including The Greatest, Kill My Mind, Saturdays and Silver Tongues. But what truly made the night unforgettable was when he brought back One Direction nostalgia with Where Do Broken Hearts Go, Night Changes and Drag Me Down.
With fans already calling him the “man of promises” for fulfilling his commitment to visiting India, the excitement for his return is at an all-time high.
