Veteran actor and filmmaker Anupam Kher, the longtime colleague and friend Shah Rukh Khan, recently opened up about the emotional side of Bollywood that once defined the industry. While promoting his upcoming film Tanvi The Great, Anupam sat down for a candid chat with Siddharth Kannan and reflected on how times have changed in showbiz.
“Humare rishte bane hai. Na humare pass vanity van hoti thi, na mobile, humare pass rishte hote thee,” he said, reminiscing about the days when genuine friendships were formed on film sets – not in isolated vanity vans.
Anupam revisited a heartfelt memory from his talk show where Shah Rukh Khan once said, “I am the last superstar.” Kher agreed, saying, “Mere show pe Shah Rukh Khan ne bola tha ‘I am the last superstar,’ and I think what he said was right.” He explained how SRK’s stardom along with legends like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar, continues to hold strong even today.
Tanvi The Great marks an important moment for Anupam Kher as he directs and stars in it. The film features Jackie Shroff, Boman Irani, Pallavi Joshi, Arvind Swami, Karan Tacker, and Game of Thrones actor Iain Glen. It also brings in Oscar-winning composer M.M. Keeravani and sound designer Resul Pookutty, with cinematography by Keiko Nakahara.
Produced by Anupam Kher Studios in association with NFDC and distributed by Excel Entertainment and AA Films, the film is set to release globally on July 18.
