Sanjay Kapur’s Wife Priya Sachdev Speaks on Co-Parenting and Blended Family Life with Karisma Kapoor

Priya disclosed that her and Sunjay's young son, Azarias, has emerged as the emotional cornerstone for the family. As the half-brother to both Safira and Kiaan-Samaira, he has played a crucial role in bridging the emotional divide between stepsiblings.

One month prior to Sunjay Kapur’s tragic passing, his spouse Priya Sachdev candidly discussed her blended family with remarkable emotional sincerity, highlighting her relationship with Karisma Kapoor’s children—Samaira and Kiaan—and emphasizing that she has never sought to supplant their mother. Priya disclosed that her and Sunjay’s young son, Azarias, has emerged as the emotional cornerstone for the family. As the half-brother to both Safira and Kiaan-Samaira, he has played a crucial role in bridging the emotional divide between stepsiblings.

Here’s what Priya Sachdev conveyed regarding the inclusion of Karisma and her children in their blended family gatherings:

“I could never take the place of their mother,” Priya stated during an interview with Kin and Kindness, recognizing Karisma’s significance in their lives. However, what made her remark even more touching was her description of their family structure: “We have four children—Samaira is the oldest, followed by my daughter Safira, then Kiaan, and our youngest, Azarias.”

Priya also discussed the initiatives taken to involve Karisma Kapoor in family gatherings for the benefit of the children. “Sanjay and I had numerous discussions. I suggested to him—let’s invite Lolo over for tea. That tea led to dinner, and ultimately, she began joining us on family vacations because the kids asked for it.

Priya acknowledged that she “did wonder – would she feel at ease? Would I?” when contemplating the inclusion of Karisma Kapoor and her children, Samaira and Kiaan, in family gatherings. She stressed that she never intended to “replace” Karisma as the mother of the children and aimed to foster a respectful, nurturing relationship instead of taking on a parental role.

Priya remarked that their son Azarias acted as a “glue” that facilitated the unity of all the children and contributed to harmony within the blended family structure. These heartfelt reflections emerged approximately a month prior to the unfortunate passing of Sunjay Kapur on June 12, 2025, providing a poignant insight into the emotional care and thoughtfulness Priya dedicated to establishing a unified family environment. Her candidness underscores the challenges of step-parenting in the public eye and her dedication to mindful inclusiveness.
