2023 marked the release of several South blockbuster hit films like Vijay Thalapathy starrer Leo, Rajinikanth starrer Jailer, and others. And the latest to join the list is Prashanth Neel’s film, Salaar starring Prabhas. Vijay Thalaptahy starrer Leo was one of the biggest South hits of the year 2023. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj the film had an opening of approx. 66 crores. Leo grossed a whopping 615 at the worldwide box office.
2. Jailer
Apart from Leo, Rajinikanth starrer Jailer was also one of the biggest South hits of 2023. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar the Tamil film had a box-office opening worth 48.35 Cr. Jailer grossed a whopping 607.3cr at the worldwide box office.
3. Adipurush
On the 3rd spot is Om Raut’s film, Adipurush. Starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan, Adipurus secured an opening worth, ₹90 crore. The film made an overall worldwide box office collection of approx. 353.3cr.
3. Ponniyin Selvan-2
On the 4th spot is mani Ratnam’s magnum opus, Ponniyin Selvan 2. Starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, and others PS-2 secured a box office opening worth, Rs 38 crore. The film made an overall worldwide box office collection of approx. 343.5cr.
5. Salaar
On the 5th spot is the recently released Prashanth Neel’s film, Salaar. Starring Prabhas the film secured an opening worth Rs 95 crore. The film has already crossed the 400cr mark globally within just 4 days of its release.
6. Varisu
On the 6th spot is Vamshi Paidipally’s directorial, Varisu. The Tamil film secured a box office opening worth Rs 11 crore. Starring Vijay Thalapathy, the film made an overall worldwide box office collection of approx. 292.8cr.
7. Waltair Veerayya
Last but not least is K.S Ravindra’s action-drama, Waltair Veerayya. Starring Chiranjeevi, Ravi Teja, and Shruti Haasan, the Telugu film, secured a box office opening worth Rs 30 crore. The film made an overall worldwide box office collection of approx. 210.2cr.
