Sai Pallavi is a true blue Bollywood fans as she wishes to play prominent characters from Hindi films

Tamil superstar Sai Pallavi has expressed her desire to play memorable roles in period drama films. She has said that she wants to play the characters of Bollywood super hit films like ‘Padmavat’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’. Clearly, Sai Pallavi is a true blue fan of Bollywood. Sai has also said that she is a bit satisfied playing Rosie or Maithreyi in the Telugu period film ‘Shyam Singha Roy’.

Sai’s film ‘Shyam Singha Roy’ is set in the backdrop of 1970s Kolkata. Rahul Sankrityan directed the film in which she played the character of a devadasi from Bangladesh. Talking about this, Sai Pallavi said in a recent interview, “I imagine myself sometimes, you see a few films, you’ll think ‘oh, I wish I’d get a role’ at that moment. I have seen Padmaavat and Bajirao Mastani, and sometimes you will think so. I think a part of me felt a little satisfied when I did Shyam Singha Roy and I had to play someone from a different time. It’ll be nice if I have a full-fledged role for a longer time.”

Meanwhile, Sai also clarified her statement on Kashmir Files which pulled her into controversies. She explained her statement was taken out of context and that she did not intend to belittle any tragedy. To brief about the controversy, while talking about the film The Kashmir Files, she expressed her concerns over violence in the name of religion. However, now she feels that was a learning experience.

She said: “That day I was surprised because I didn’t take a political stance. How can you take offense in me just saying, ‘Please don’t kill each other!’ All I wanted to say was we should not fight on something as personal as religion”

Sai’s film ‘Gargi’ has been released on July 15 and the film is getting a lot of praise. Directed by Gautham Ramachandran of Ritchie fame, this film is the story of a woman who is fighting for justice. Sai Pallavi’s performance in the film is also being appreciated. Prior to this, Sai Pallavi was seen in the film ‘Virata Parvam’ opposite Rana Daggubati. The film directed by Venu Udugula is based on the Naxalite movement in Telangana from 1990.
