South filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj delivered the blockbuster Tamil film, Leo this year. Starring Vijay Thalapathy Leo was a massive box-office success. And to everyone’s surprise, Lokesh Kanagaraj has now officially announced the sequel of Leo which will feature Vijay Thalapathy.
South filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj was recently invited to an event attended by movie buffs. During the event, the filmmaker was asked about his plans and upcoming movies in 2024. Following the same Lokesh Kanagaraj revealed that he is currently busy with Rajinikanth’s Thalaivar171, and Kaithi 2. He further announced that he is also planning a sequel of Leo.
The filmmaker said that as soon as he gets done with his films Kaithi 2 and Thalaivar171 he will start working on Leo 2. He said, “Leo 2 is definitely on. I’ll start to write after Thalaivar171 & Kaithi 2. It’s always fun to work with Vijay Anna”.

Talking about the 2023 film, Leo, the crime-action film opened to a whopping Rs 148 globally. The film made a good run at the theatres grossing a total of Rs 612 crore worldwide becoming the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2023.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Leo is a Tamil action thriller film featuring actor Thalapathy Vijay alongside Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt and Ponniyin Selvan actress Trisha Krishnan. Apart from them, the film will also feature Arjun Sarja, Priya Anand, and others in significant roles. Produced by S. S. Lalit Kumar and Jagadish Palanisamy the film was released in the theatres on 19th October 2023.
