Vikram: After breaching the almost 300cr mark at the Box Office, Kamal Haasan starter Vikram is now going to hit the OTT very soon. Disney plus Hotstar has recently announced the digital premiere of Kamal Haasan’s blockbuster film Vikram which will be premiered on 8 July.
Kamal Haasan’s film Vikram has grossed over ₹400 crores at the box office and continues to have a successful run in theatres, while according to the recent updates the film will have its OTT release via Disney+ Hotstar on July 8. According to the reports, Vikram has collected Rs 290 crore so far in India alone.
The movie was released amid a lot of fanfare on June 3 across south India and it ran to packed houses with glowing reports from the critics and audience alike. It’s said the film has raked in more than Rs 172 crore in Tamil Nadu, Rs 39 crore in Kerala, Rs 38 crore in the Telugu states, over Rs 24 crore in Karnataka, and Rs 16.5 crore in the Hindi belt.
While reacting to the news many fans shared their reactions on social media, a user wrote, “Exactly the problem with many of our movies with their OTT strategies. Audiences are shying away from theatres because they feel it is better to catch these movies on OTT in a month. Theatrical revenue is getting a huge hit as a result. Need to go back to bigger theatrical windows.”
Helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the script of ‘Vikram’ is penned down by the director himself. The cinematography of ‘Vikram’is done by Girish Gangadharan and the editing by Philomon Raj. ‘Vikram’ has an ensemble cast that includes Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, Narain, Chemban Vinod Jose, and Kalidas Jayaram in pivotal roles.
