Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Emergency’ Gets New Release Date

The film based on true historical events will hit the big screen after previous postponements.

After several delays, Kangana Ranaut’s much-anticipated film Emergency has finally secured a new release date, marking a significant milestone for the ambitious project. The film, which delves into a pivotal chapter of Indian political history, is set to hit theatres on 6th September 2024, according to recent announcements from the production team made on X today.

Previous release dates for Emergency were slated for June 14 2024, and its initial release date was scheduled between October – November 2023, but the film’s release was postponed each time. The reasons behind these delays have been attributed to various factors, including extensive post-production work to ensure historical accuracy and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on film schedules and lately postponed due to Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

Emergency chronicles the events surrounding the declaration of a state of emergency in India, from 1975 to 1977, with Kangana Ranaut essaying the role of a Former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi. The film initially generated buzz due to its bold subject matter and several setbacks have marked Ranaut’s immersive portrayal, but its journey to the big screen. The film is directed by the lead actress, Kangana Ranaut, who also wrote the story for the same. She also produced the film with Renu Pitti via Manikarnika Films Production. The background score and the music of Emergency is composed by G.V. Prakash Kumar.

Along with the Padmashree-winning actress and filmmaker, the star cast of the film includes Anupam Kher portraying politician JayPrakash Narayan and Shreyas Talpade as Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The other cast includes Milind Soman, Mahima Chaudhry, Vishak Nair and Satish Kaushik.

As anticipation builds for Emergency‘s release, the film might stand poised to make an impact with its exploration of historical events and the steadfast dedication of its lead actress, promising an insightful cinematic experience for audiences nationwide.
