Renowned actor and filmmaker Vivek Lagoo, who was previously married to the late actress Reema Lagoo, died in Mumbai on Thursday (June 19) at the age of 71. His passing was verified by his daughter Mrunmayee Lagoo through a heartfelt post on social media.
Mrunmayee took to her Instagram handle to share a cutesy selfie with her father. Along with that, she wrote, “We fought together long and hard but now it’s time to say good bye with love and gratitude (sic).”
She further added, “MY DAD! My best friend, my guide, my number one fan and the voice in my head… I will miss you… the best dad a girl can have (sic).”
Messages of prayer and sympathy flooded Mrunmayee’s post. “Sending you love and prayers, Mrunmayee,” wrote Hansal Mehta, while Karishma Tanna responded with emoticons of folded hands. According to reports, Vivek’s final rites are scheduled to take place at the Oshiwara crematorium in Mumbai today (June 20).
Vivek married actress Reema Lagoo in 1978, but a few years later, they chose to separate. Nevertheless, they maintained their friendship until Reema’s passing in 2017. Vivek and Reema’s daughter, Mrunmayee, is a prominent figure in the industry. She has been recognized as the writer for projects such as Thappad and Scoop, among others.
Vivek was involved in both the Hindi and Marathi film industries. His significant works include Godawari Ne Kaay Kele, Ugly, What About Savarkar?, and 31 Divas, among others. He was also a well-respected name in the Marathi theatre community.
