American actress Olivia Munn recently opened up about the difficult experience she faced on a movie set, describing it as “traumatic”. Speaking on the podcast of Reclaiming with Monica Lewinsky, the actress shared that she had to report certain issues to the film studio. However, what followed was an unexpected offer – a seven-figure settlement in exchange for signing a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). Despite the large sum, Olivia chose to walk away!
“I had to file complaints with the studio, and there’s a lot of other little things that go along with it, but it got to this place where I was offered a lot of money,” she explained. “Seven figures to accept, I guess, their apology and them taking acknowledgement of it. But it came along with an NDA.”
Why Olivia Munn Refused the Settlement?
The X:Men Apocalypse actress shared that this incident took place during the height of the #MeToo movement, a time when many people were being criticized for signing NDAs. She feared that accepting money would make it seem like she was just staying quiet for financial gain.
“This was like the reckoning, the Harvey Weinstein reckoning that began it all,” Olivia said. “This was that time period, and this was when people were targeting anyone who signed an NDA saying, ‘Oh, you only did it for the money.’ So I was afraid that my voice and speaking up would just reverse any kind of validity to my voice.”

Although she met with lawyers, she knew almost immediately that she wouldn’t take the settlement. “I did not think about negotiating. I did not think about anything besides how disrespectful that was,” she shared. Olivia also said she made it clear that she wanted to be the one to reject the offer.
Her Fight Against Injustice in Hollywood
This isn’t the first time Olivia Munn has spoken out about problems in the industry. In 2018, the actress took a stand against a scene in The Predator after discovering that an actor in the film was a registered sex offender. She fought to have the scene removed, despite facing pushback from others involved in the project.
Looking back, Olivia stands by her decisions to reject the NDA even though she acted out of frustration. “Look, was it the right thing to do and do the people in my life think that I did the right thing and are proud of me for that? Yes.”
