In a candid and contentious interview with DJ Akademiks on YouTube, American rapper Kanye West discussed his personal regrets and current legal disputes with his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian. Known for his provocative statements, the artist openly expressed his remorse regarding having children with Kardashian.
Kanye admitted, “I take responsibility for that. After the initial two months of our relationship, I realized I did not wish to have children with her, but that was not in accordance with God’s plan.” He recognized that fatherhood with Kardashian was not something he had intended.
West and Kardashian, who were married in a lavish ceremony in Italy in 2014, have four children: North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm. Despite their outwardly glamorous lifestyle, the couple’s marriage concluded with a divorce in 2021. Since that time, Kanye has openly expressed his challenges concerning parental rights and custody issues.
In the same interview, West conveyed his dissatisfaction regarding his lack of ownership over the names and likenesses of his children. He stated, “Despite creating all these brands, I do not possess ownership of their names and likenesses, nor do I have a fair share, such as 50-50, with my children. How can this be considered joint custody? My children are public figures, yet I have no influence,” he expressed.
He also criticized the Kardashian family, remarking, “This white woman and her family hold power over these highly influential Black children, who are half of Ye’s offspring.” His comments have ignited discussions online about issues of identity, celebrity parenting, and the complexities of racial dynamics in co-parenting.
This is not the first instance of West publicly confronting the Kardashian family. He has labeled them a “mob” and accused them of depriving him of his parental rights. On social media, he stated, “All these rights have been taken from me by the Kardashian mob.”
West is persistently seeking a more significant role in his children’s lives, asserting, “I need to have a say in where they attend school, who their friends are, whose homes they visit for sleepovers, and whether my daughters wear lipstick and perfume.”
The ongoing legal battles regarding custody and brand ownership have exacerbated the already strained relationship between West and Kardashian. Currently, Kanye seems resolute in his efforts to regain influence over his children’s future, despite the public nature of the ongoing conflict between the two parties.
