Julain McMahon, ‘Fantastic Four’ Star Dies At 56 After Battling With Cancer

Julian McMahon, known for Nip/Tuck and Charmed, passes away at 56 after a private cancer battle. His wife confirms the news with a heartfelt tribute.

The 56-year-old Australian-American actor Julian McMahon widely known for his roles in Nip/Tuck, Charmed and Fantastic Four, passed away on July 2 in Clearwater, Florida. The actor had been privately battling cancer, which was not known to the public until his death. Now his wife Kelly Paniagua, confirmed this devastating news in a statement to Deadline.

“With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer,” she wrote. “Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible.”

She added, “We ask for support during this time to allow our family to grieve in privacy. And we wish for all of those to whom Julian brought joy, to continue to find joy in life. We are grateful for the memories.”

Born in Sydney in 1968, Julian was the son of former Australian Prime Minister Billy McMahon. He began his career as a model before entering acting through Aussie television soaps like Home and Away. He later moved to the U.S. and rose to fame playing Cole Turner in Charmed and the confident Dr. Christian Troy in Nip/Tuck, a role that earned him a Golden Globe nomination. He also portrayed the iconic Marvel villain Doctor Doom’s role in the Fantastic Four films and starred in FBI: Most Wanted as Jess LaCroix.

Despite his battle with cancer, Julian continued working until recently with roles in The Surfer alongside Nicolas Cage and Netflix’s The Residence where he portrayed the Australian Prime Minister.

At the time of his passing, Julian McMahon’s net worth was estimated at $16 million. He is survived by his wife Kelly and daughter Madison. His contribution to film and television will be remembered fondly by audiences around the world.
