Hollywood’s legendary actor Michael Madsen widely known for his roles in Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill, passed away at the age of 67. His publicist Liz Rodriguez confirmed that Madsen was found unresponsive on Thursday morning at his home in Malibu, California. He reportedly died of cardiac arrest.
Michael’s acting journey began in 1982 with Against All Hope. Over the years, he built a remarkable career appearing in over 300 films. And his iconic collaborations with director Quentin Tarantino gave him cult status, especially his performance as Mr. Blonde in Reservoir Dogs. He later played Budd in Kill Bill, Joe Gage in The Hateful Eight and also appeared in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
In a 2017 interview, Madsen spoke about working on Reservoir Dogs, saying, “I had a great director and a great script. Quentin let me improve quite a bit.” Reflecting on the iconic dance scene, he shared, “Honestly, I didn’t know what to do… and thank God he let me do it.”
Michael Madsen was married three times and had six children. He faced a personal tragedy in 2022 when his son Hudson died by suicide. Following that, he filed for divorce from his third wife DeAnna. Despite personal struggles, Madsen kept himself active in the industry. At the time of his death, he had 18 projects in progress and was preparing to release a book titled Tears For My Father.
In a statement to NBC4 Los Angeles, Michael’s managers Smith and Susan Ferris and publicist Liz Rodrigue said “In the last two years, Michael has been doing incredible work with independent films, including upcoming features Resurrection Road, Concessions and Cookbook for Southern Housewives.”
Madsen leaves behind a legacy of unforgettable roles and a deep impact on the world of cinema.
