The boys faced a grim conclusion in Season 4 of “The Boys,” as Grace Mallory was believed to be dead, Butcher turned rebellious, and most of them were apprehended by Vought. According to Kripke’s interview with the Los Angeles Times, he explained that if the show’s five seasons were condensed into a three-act film, this would mark the midpoint downturn of Act 2, setting the stage for the heroes to triumph by the end of the series.
Two days prior to Season 4’s premiere, showrunner Kripke announced on X that “The Boys” is set to come back for its fifth and final season. Kirke mentioned that he is still working on the final details for Season 5 in the writers’ room and the actors have not been involved in the process yet. The only hint he shared was related to Homelander. “It won’t make him happy,” Kripke informed the LA Times. “Spoiler alert: He’s still going to be miserable.”

In Season 5, there is a high probability of the return of a key character who was briefly shown in the season finale. Jensen Ackles plays Soldier Boy, who was seen fast asleep due to drugs in the episode, suggesting that he might make a comeback in the upcoming season.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly in 2022, Kripke expressed his inability to envision the series concluding without Soldier Boy making another appearance, heightening the likelihood of his return. Prime has not yet disclosed any plans for Season 5 or announced a release date. Except for Season 2, which had a fall release, all other seasons of “The Boys” were released in the summer. Season 1 debuted on July 26, 2019, while Seasons 3 and 4 premiered in June 2022 and 2024 respectively, concluding in July 2022 and 2024.
The cast for Season 5 of “The Boys” has not been announced by Prime Video, but it is probable that many of the recurring cast members will be back for the upcoming season. Additionally, viewers can anticipate the arrival of new characters and actors in the next season, such as Jeffrey Dean Morgan portraying Joe Kessler.
