After almost 11 years of their marriage, Esha Deol and Bharat Takhtani officially announced their separation on February 7. The couple issued a joint statement announcing their separation stating that the two have mutually and amicably decided to part ways and will be co-parenting their two daughters.
While their separation is now officially confirmed, however, only a few people know about the story behind how the two met each other before getting married. So without further ado let’s take a look at Esha Deol and Bharat Takhtani’s love story and relationship timeline.
Esha-Bharat First Met At Inter-School Competition
Esha Deol and Bharat Takhtani first met each other during an inter-school competition. Back when the two were teenagers and in high school, Esha studied at Jamnabai Narsee School, meanwhile, Bharat was enrolled at Learner’s Academy.
Talking about her first meeting with Bharat Isha told India Today, “We met at the inter-school competition called Cascade, which my school hosted. I wrote my phone number on a piece of tissue and gave it to him. Back then I had braces. So, I always say he truly loved me with braces on. He found me cute.”
When Esha Stopped Talking To Bharat For “Holding Her Hands”
In one of her interviews, Esha revealed that she and Bharat stopped talking after the latter stated that he wanted to hold her hand. Esha revealed, “But it was an immature, stupid age. Once when he wanted to hold my hand, I snapped, “How dare you hold my hand?”
However, Bharat still kept in touch with Esha’s sister, Ahana. In one of his interviews, Bharat said, “After that, she stopped talking to me. Though I didn’t keep in touch with her, I remained friends with Ahana. So somewhere the connection remained. I always nurtured a soft corner for Esha. After all, she was my first love.”
Esha Deol-Bharat Takhtani Reunited After 10 Years
Ten years after that incident, the couple reunited and this time Esha’s sister Ahana played the cupid in their relationship. While Esha was on a trip to the US, Ahana told her whereabouts to Bharat and the two met each other again. The couple then hit it off.
Soon after reuniting Esha set up a meeting with her parents Hema Malini and Dharmendra. Both her parents gave a nod to their relationship and the two decided to get engaged soon after.

In February 2012, Bharat went down on one knee and proposed to Esha Deol. The two got married on June 29, 2012. The wedding ceremony was held at the ISKCON temple in Mumbai.
Esha Deol-Bharat Remarried In 2017 Welcoming Their First Daughter
Esha and Bharat reaffirmed their commitment in 2017 as they embarked on their journey into parenthood. They exchanged vows once again at the ISKCON temple in Mumbai, commemorating Esha’s baby shower. Their joy multiplied with the arrival of their firstborn, Radhya, in October 2017. Nearly two years later, in 2019, they were blessed with the arrival of their second bundle of joy, Miraya.
