Fans Criticize the Trend of Sequels: Concerns Raised Over Potential ‘Singh Is Kinng 2’ Project.

Akshay Kumar's legal representatives have refuted the claims regarding the sequel to Singh is Kinng 2.

‘Singh Is Kinng’ is regarded as one of the most beloved comedy films in cinematic history and is reportedly in discussions for a sequel. Producer Shailendra Singh has recently revealed that he is developing ‘Singh Is Kinng 2’ and is considering casting Ranveer Singh and Diljit Dosanjh. This announcement has left fans of Akshay Kumar disheartened, as his portrayal in the original film was highly appreciated by audiences.

Subsequently, Akshay Kumar’s legal representatives declared the news of the sequel to be false. Many netizens have voiced their dissatisfaction with the trend of producing sequels and have urged filmmakers to explore fresh concepts.

In a recent update regarding ‘Singh Is Kinng 2’, producer Shailendra Singh informed Midday, “I had presented the title to Akshay Kumar, and efforts were made to develop a sequel. However, I requested the return of the title as I intended to create a sequel myself. After 12 years of discussions with Vipul and Akshay, I successfully reclaimed the title three years ago. I have initiated the process of developing Singh Is Kinng 2 and plan to commence production in October 2025, aiming for a release in 2026.”

In discussing the cast, he remarked, “Ranveer Singh is my top choice. We contacted his manager on Saturday. His vibrant energy, playful nature, and sense of fun align perfectly with the character. Furthermore, Ranveer has not portrayed a Sardar before, making this an opportune moment for both Ranveer and Shailendra to create something extraordinary. If Ranveer is unavailable, my next preference would be Diljit Dosanjh.”

Akshay Kumar’s legal representatives disclosed that the actor is a co-owner of the film, asserting that no individual has the authority to produce prequels, sequels, or franchises. The statement clarifies, “Mr. Akshay Kumar is the co-owner of the film, Singh is Kinng (“Film”), along with all associated rights, titles, interests, etc. Any claims or statements made by Mr. Shailendra Singh in the article published in Mid-day on 11th November 2024 regarding the Film are completely false and misleading. Neither Mr. Shailendra Singh nor any other individual possesses the right to produce any prequels, sequels, or franchises related to the Film.”

In addition to Akshay Kumar, ‘Singh is Kinng’ featured performances by Katrina Kaif, Om Puri, Ranvir Shorey, Neha Dhupia, Javed Jaffrey, Sonu Sood, and Sudhanshu Pandey.
