The highly popular musical composer, producer, executive entertainer and an all-rounder of all, Quincy Jones has passed away at the age of 91. The renowned hollywood personality died at his home in Los Angeles, while his family was around him.
His publicist Arnold Robinson informed the Associated Press about the death stating that he died on Sunday night in his home at the Bel Air section of the LA. A statement released by the family read, “Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones’ passing.And although this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him.” The reason of his death is unknown, but this news has disappointed many fans amid the audience.

Throughout an extraordinary career that lasted over 60 years, Jones created Michael Jackson’s top-selling albums, including Off the Wall, Thriller, and Bad; acquired the rights to the novel The Color Purple, featuring a young Oprah Winfrey in the Steven Spielberg film adaptation from 1985, and earned three Oscar nominations for his contributions; directed the groundbreaking recording sessions for the 1985 charity single “We Are the World,” which became the best-selling single ever; and produced Lesley Gore’s hit song “It’s My Party,” which topped the charts in 1963.
Mr. Jones’s music has been sampled and reused hundreds of times, through all stages of hip-hop and for the theme to the “Austin Powers” films. As soon as the news of his demise came out, actor and playwright Jeremy O Harris took to X to highlight Jones’ history-making life. He wrote on X: “What couldn’t he do? Quincy Jones, literally born when the limits on how big a black boy could dream were unfathomably high, taught us that the limit does not exist. His contributions to American culture were limitless.First black person nominated for an Oscar for best score. First black person nominated later twice in the same year.”
