Actress and social media sensation, Uorfi Javed, recently disclosed that she has been inundated with death threats following her decision to share photos and videos of herself dressed as “Chhota Pandit,” a character famously portrayed by actor Rajpal Yadav in the 2007 film, “Bhool Bhulaiyaa.”
Taking to her X handle (formerly known as Twitter), Uorfi revealed the alarming messages she received in response to her post, including one where a man threatened to end her life if she didn’t delete the content. Another email threatened to shoot her dead in the middle of the road, alleging an insult to the Hindu religion.
Alongside these screenshots, Uorfi shared images of herself in the Chhota Pandit attire, as well as a picture of Rajpal Yadav dressed as the character.
Expressing her dismay, Uorfi stated, “I’m just shocked and appalled by this country, man. I’m getting death threats for recreating a character from a movie, whereas that character didn’t receive any backlash.”
At present, Uorfi has not confirmed whether she plans to take any legal action in response to the threats.
This incident isn’t an isolated one, as the actress has faced threats and criticism in the past for her unconventional fashion choices, often attracting attention with her unique and bold clothing.
In a recent development, Uorfi was spotted at the Bandra police station in Mumbai after a complaint was lodged against her for wearing “objectionable outfits” in public. Earlier instances also saw multiple complaints and FIRs against the actress for her attire and alleged “obscene acts in public and on social media.”
Nonetheless, Uorfi remains undeterred by the hate and has consistently affirmed her determination to continue dressing as she pleases, unswayed by online trolls and detractors.
