Aur Bhai Kya Chal Raha Hai Actress Akansha Sharma Opens Up On Gender Bias On Women’s Day

Actress Akansha Sharma, who plays the role of Sakina Mirza in 'Aur Bhai Kya Chal Raha Hai', has shared her views on gender biases and the importance of celebrating womanhood.

It is rightly said that “A woman is a full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture, and transform.’ We are all aware of how women in every part of our society deal with inequality, leading to an unbalanced gender ecosystem. To celebrate womanhood and to spread awareness about gender equality, International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8th every year, and this year the theme is #BreakTheBias. &TV’s leading women protagonist, Akansha Sharma (Sakina Mirza, Aur Bhai Kya Chal Raha Hai?) has shared her views on gender biases and the importance of celebrating womanhood.

Akansha Sharma says, “Every morning, I wake up feeling fortunate to be born as a woman. From physical capabilities to emotional strength, we are no less than wonder women ourselves. But it is heart-breaking to see how society feels otherwise, and we are treated as inferiors and weak. Society chains us down in the box of biases and inequality by measuring us by the scale of artificial beauty standards to suppress our abilities.”

She adds, “I remember one instance during my childhood where I was not selected as the head of the class just because the teacher thought a girl could not lead. When I look back in time and relive the moment, I understand that the very foundation of education has a huge loophole. Blaming it on others is easy but looking at ourselves and pointing out the problem is real. As they say, “charity begins at home.” We should all remove this evil of business completely from our lives and expect society to change gradually. Let’s take one step at a time towards a bias-free society and treat the women in our lives with the utmost respect and empower the ‘Naari Shakti’”.
