Will Smith Tries To Get Back On Social Media Five Months After The Oscar’s Slap

Will Smith tweeted a humorous video of a small gorilla pushing a larger gorilla to catch their attention, along with a statement indicating that he may be returning to social media after slapping Chris Rock.

Will Smith, 53, revealed in a new Instagram post that he’s “trying to get back” on social media. The actor, who withdrew from the public eye both online and in person after slapping Chris Rock on stage at the 2022 Academy Awards, shared a humorous video of a small gorilla gingerly probing a larger gorilla in order to catch their attention.

Will captioned the video, “Me trying to get back on social.” It didn’t take long for his fans to voice their support and sarcasm in the comments section. “Like Nike bro, just do it,” said one admirer, while another added, “Lol. We will welcome you back man! We’ve missed you! Everyone goes through shit. You’re human, just like the rest of us! COME BACK WILL!” A third person posted, ‘We still love you, Will.’

Will’s most recent Instagram post comes just a few weeks after he apologised publicly for the smack on YouTube. In the apologies, he answered several fan concerns regarding the event and stated that he approached Chris personally but that he wasn’t ready to talk.
“I’ve reached out to Chris and the message that came back is that he’s not ready to talk and when he is, he will reach out,” Will said. “So I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behaviour was unacceptable.”

He apologized to Chris’ family as well. “I want to apologize to Chris’s mother. I saw an interview that Chris’s mother did. And that was one of the things about that moment I just didn’t realize,” he explained. “I wasn’t thinking but how many people got hurt in that moment. So I want to apologize to Chris’s mother. I want to apologize to Chris’s family. Specifically Tony Rock. We had a great relationship. Tony Rock was my man. And this is probably irreparable.”
