The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power season 2 will be helmed by a team of all-women directors.

The Lord Of The Rings fans is finally delighted as several new details about the upcoming second season of the prequel series The Rings Of Power have been revealed. Amazon Studios recently announced that The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power Season 2 will feature a notable all-female directing team.

Meanwhile, among the women directing the upcoming season will be Charlotte Brändström, who previously directed two episodes of the fantasy show’s debut season, as reported by Deadline. The latest announcement also revealed that The Rings Of Power will have a second season of the same length as its first. Season 1 of the Lord Of The Rings prequel series features eight episodes and season 2 will have the same number of episodes.

However, in addition to Brändström, the series is adding directors Sanaa Hamri and Louise Hooper, both of whom are new to the series. Brändström is also set to be a co-executive producer for the Lord Of The Rings series.

Meanwhile, Sanaa Hamri got her to start directing music videos for Mariah Carey, Destiny’s Child and Prince, among others, before directing the Sanaa Lathan film Something New in 2006. Most recently, she produced and directed another Amazon fantasy series, The Wheel Of Time.

Hooper has worked in British television for decades, though she recently scored high-profile directing gigs on episodes of The Sandman and The Witcher. The two newer directors will each by leading two episodes of The Rings Of Power.

For the unversed, The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power Season has been set thousands of years before the time of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins and the events of the original Lord Of The Rings trilogy.

However, the prequel series has been proven to be a massive hit as the streaming platform claims the series has garnered over 100 million people across the world. According to the streamer, 25 million people viewed the premiere episode of the series, making it the biggest premiere to date for Amazon Prime Video. Moreover, the prequel series also scored a Critics’ Choice Awards nomination this month for Best Supporting Actor.
