Stranger Things Season 4 Release Date And End Of The Series Revealed

Stranger Things season 4 has several additions to the cast, including Myles Truitt and Amybeth McNulty.

The first season of Stranger Things first debuted on Netflix in July 2016 and became a huge hit. And after a long wait, the fourth season of the highly anticipated series finally got a release date! However, the release date of the show’s ending was also revealed, as it was explained that the upcoming season four will be split into two parts.

In the official announcement, it was stated that the first part of the series’ fourth season will release on May 27. Meanwhile, its second part will premiere on July 1st. Series creators Matt and Ross Duffer also released an open letter where they discussed their hopes and aspirations for the upcoming run of episodes. The showrunners also confirmed that, while Stranger Things’ fourth season would be the show’s longest as of yet, it would also serve as the show’s penultimate release.

The two began the statement, “With nine scripts, over eight-hundred pages, almost two years of filming, thousands of visual effects shots, and a runtime nearly twice the length of any previous season, Stranger Things 4 was the most challenging season yet.” They added that the new run of episodes was ‘also the most rewarding one. Everyone involved is incredibly proud of the results, and we can’t wait to share it with you.’

The Duffers then stated that ‘due to the unprecedented length’ of the new season, which will be ‘bigger than ever,’ it would be split into two parts. The brothers also pointed out that the release of the show’s new episodes would also mark ‘the beginning of the end’ for the series. They wrote, “Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for Stranger Things. At the time, we predicted the story would last four to five seasons.”

The Duffers went on to express that the show’s plot was ‘too large to tell in four’ seasons and that they ‘are now hurtling towards our finale’ before confirming that the fifth run of episodes would be its last. The two also appeared to tease at the wealth of content that would be featured in the hit show’s forthcoming final season. “There are still many more exciting stories to tell within the world of Stranger Things; new mysteries, new adventures, new unexpected heroes,” they wrote.

The Duffers concluded their message by expressing their excitement for the new set of episodes and thanking the show’s longtime fans for their continued enthusiasm. “But first we hope that you stay with us as we finish this tale… as always, we are grateful for your patience and support,” they noted. The development of the fourth season of Stranger Things was initially confirmed in September of 2019, and a teaser trailer was released the following February.

The long-time series cast includes Winona Ryder, David Harbour, and Millie Bobby Brown, as well as much of the show’s cast, which will all return for the forthcoming episodes. Several new additions to the cast, including Myles Truitt and Amybeth McNulty, were also added to the program’s lineup. Several teaser trailers for Stranger Things’ upcoming season were released over the course of 2021, and it was confirmed that the new run would consist of nine episodes last November.
