Simu Liu teases that Shang-Chi could be back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe sooner than expected. While interviewing with People, the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star said there could be another Marvel movie in which his character interacts with other major superheroes.
“I’m a huge fan of both the characters and the artists who play them, so every collaboration is an opportunity for me to work with someone who is pushing boundaries and at the top of their game in their own way. Liu told the publication that he is part of the MCU. “I think that’s what excites me the most as a performer [and] also as a fan.” He then joked: “Who knows, maybe they see a little sooner than you think. We will see.”(Hollywood reporter)

The Kim’s Convenience star will reprise the role of Shang-Chi in the film’s sequel, with Destin Daniel Cretton once again directing. “Destin is an incredible collaborator who brought a unique perspective and skills to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” said the Marvel director when the sequel was announced in December 2021. “We’ve had a fantastic time collaborating on the film and he has so many fascinating ideas for bringing stories to life on Disney+, so we’re thrilled to continue our relationship with him and can’t wait to get started.” The sequel doesn’t have a release date yet, but there will be numerous Marvel Studios projects that it could appear in over the next few years.
Outside of his Marvel role, Liu stars in Greta Gerwig’s live-action Barbie, which hits theaters July 21.
