His Mother Drena De Niro, Announced His Passing On July 2 Through A Heartfelt Social Media Post

Last month, Robert De Niro’s grandson, Leandro De Niro Rodriguez, passed away at the age of 19. Initially, the cause of death was undisclosed, but recent reports reveal that he died from a drug overdose.

According to the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner, Leandro succumbed to the toxic effects of a combination of substances, including fentanyl, bromazolam, alprazolam, 7-aminoclonazepam, ketamine, and cocaine. His mother, actress Drena De Niro, announced his passing on July 2 through a heartfelt social media post.

“I don’t know how to live without you, but I’ll try to go on and spread the love and light that you so made me feel in getting to be your mama,” she wrote in the caption. “You were so deeply loved and appreciated, and I wish that love alone could have saved you.”

Drena responded to an Instagram user’s inquiry about the circumstances of Leandro’s death, revealing that he had ingested fentanyl-laced pills knowingly sold to him. She expressed frustration toward those involved in selling and buying such substances, emphasizing the tragic consequences.

Robert De Niro also issued a statement regarding the passing of his beloved grandson Leo, expressing deep distress and appreciation for the condolences. He requested privacy to mourn the loss of Leo.

The tragic incident highlights the devastating impact of drug-related issues and the urgent need for awareness and prevention.
