Alexandra Grant in her recent Instagram post sends out an important message to women, about acceptance and dangers of permanent hair dye. She gets to the details about her experience with going prematurely gray at an early age. And after masking her hair with all the hair dye on the color spectrum for years, she realised how she has the choice to look however she wants ant any age.
She also spoke about a study she came across where women who use permanent hair dye are at risk of breast cancer up for up to 60 per cent. Sharing a screengrab of a Newsweek headline, the read, “Breast Cancer Linked To Permanent Hair Dye And Chemical Hair Straighteners In Study Of Almost 50,000 Women,” she captioned the picture as “Wow. Today’s news… The numbers are staggering, especially for womxn of color. I went gray prematurely in my early 20’s… and dyed my hair every colour along the way until I couldn’t tolerate the toxicity of the dyes any more.”
Keanu Reeves further recalled how at 30 she let her hair turn blonde. She also stated that she loves and support how every woman can choose how they want to look at every age. She also asked her female followers to start an open conversation about the topic. She concluded by writing, “But/and, if womxn are perishing from beauty standards… then let’s talk about those beauty standards. Love to all womxn!”
