The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced that 35 new celebrities from the entertainment industry will be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Celebs from film, music, and television are included in the 35-member list.
World-renowned stars like Benedict Cumberbatch, Zac Efron, and Courtney Cox are among others to have been selected to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2021. Whereas, other celebs like Naomi Watts, Ryan O’Neal, and Ali MacGraw will also be honoured with a star on the star-studded street. However, Ryan and Ali will get a double star.
The rock band Jefferson Airplane, soul quartet The Chi-Lites, and hip-hop group Salt-N-Pepa are will also be honoured.
Speaking of Hollywood Walk of Fame, these 35 people will join 2,600 celebrities, including Charlie Chaplin, Jennifer Aniston, Jimi Hendrix, and rapper Snoop Dogg.
The star on Hollywood Boulevard is a tradition started in 1960, in it the celeb gets their name engraved on pink and bronze stars on the sidewalk. Ceremonies unveiling the stars on the Walk of Fame were suspended in mid-March due to coronavirus pandemic. The unveilings that have been postponed for six unnamed celebrities will be rescheduled later, officials said.
For the unversed, each star represents a different category- Classic film camera is for representing motion picture while television receiver represents broadcast television. Other categories include Phonograph record, Radio microphone, and Comedy/Tragedy masks representing music, broadcast radio, and theatre, and live performance respectively.
The date of the ceremony has not been revealed yet.
