A$AP On Wednesday, August 17, Rocky showed up for his hearing in the felony assault case looking prepared for court. Months after a shooting in November 2021, Rocky, 33, whose true name is Rakim Mayers, was charged with two counts of felony firearm assault. He showed up for the trial wearing a black face mask, a dark blue suit, and a tie. As reported by Entertainment Tonight, he entered a not-guilty plea.
Following an April trip to Barbados with his girlfriend Rihanna, Rocky was detained upon his arrival at LAX. He was jailed by the authorities and then freed after posting the $550,000 bail. George Gascón, the district attorney for Los Angeles County, made the accusations against the “D.M.B.” rapper public on August 15. For the charges, Rocky may spend up to 14 years in jail.
In a statement, the D.A. cautioned about the accusations in further detail. “Discharging a gun in a public place is a serious offence that could have ended with tragic consequences not only for the person targeted but also for innocent bystanders visiting Hollywood,” he said. “My office conducted a thorough review of the evidence in this case and determined that the addition of a special firearm allegation was warranted.”
The hearing takes place only three months after Rocky and Rihanna, 33, welcomed their first child in May. Rocky has made parenting his little boy a top priority. According to an insider close to his girlfriend, who spoke exclusively to HollywoodLife, Rihanna has been attempting to “remain calm,” but she is also anxious.
“She’s feeling anxious and wishes this whole thing would be over already. She feels like their son needs his father to be present in his life and isn’t ready to imagine what their future potentially looks like at this point if Rocky has to go away. She’s doing her best to stay strong for herself and Rocky, and just wants the best for her baby,” the source said.
