It’s no secret that there has been a cold war among some of Bollywood’s prominent female actors. While they may present a friendly facade in public, behind the scenes, suspense and competition often prevail. Some view this as a natural aspect of the industry, while others consider it a toxic environment that necessitates change. This dynamic has been ingrained in Bollywood for years and is likely to persist.
Speaking of a cold war between female actors, one such incident occurred between Esha Deol and Amrita Rao, where the former slapped the latter forcefully.
This incident took place in 2006 during the shooting of the Pyare Mohan sets, which featured Esha, Amrita, Fardeen Khan, and Vivek Oberoi. Despite the film’s lackluster performance at the box office, news of Esha and Amrita’s conflict garnered significant attention.
Although Esha openly admitted to slapping Amrita in front of others, she expressed no remorse for her actions.
According to reports, Amrita Rao made some derogatory comments about Esha Deol, which triggered Esha’s anger. In a fit of rage, she slapped the actress from Vivaah on the set in front of everyone. Reflecting on the incident, Esha stated that she had no regrets about what had transpired.
She explained, “Yes, I slapped Amrita. One day after wrapping up, she verbally abused me in the presence of my director, Indra Kumar, and my cameraman. I believed her behavior was completely uncalled for and crossed the line. In defense of my self-respect and dignity, I slapped her in the heat of the moment. I have no regrets because her conduct toward me at that point in time warranted it.”
She went on to emphasize that she had simply stood up for herself and her dignity. “She recognized her mistake, apologized to me, and I have forgiven her. Our relationship has since improved.”
