The on-screen Silk Smitha once walked from Marine Drive To Bandra in anger on a hot day after getting replaced in a movie last moment...

‘Vidya Balan’ definitely grabs the top spot when we talk about tremendous talents in the world of Hindi Cinema. The actress made her Bollywood debut way back in 2005 with ‘Parineeta’, starring opposite ‘Saif Ali Khan’ for which she additionally grabbed a Filmare award being the ‘Best Debut- Female’. Since then the artist has never looked back in turn featuring in numerous hit films including ‘Heyy Babyy’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, ‘No One Killed Jessica’, ‘Kismat Konnection’, ‘Tumhari Sulu’ and ‘Mission Mangal’. Balan was honoured with the prestigious National Film Award (Best Actress Category) and Filmfare Award (Best Actress Category) for her stellar performances in cult-classics like ‘The Dirty Picture’ and ‘Kahaani’ respectively.

But this starry and successful cinematic Journey hasn’t been as easy as it sounds like. The ‘Sherni’ actress Vidya has crossed several hard hurdles and nerve-racking challenges in order to be the ‘Star Vidya Balan’ she is today indeed. Balan once recalled that she was replaced in as more than 13 movies during her initial face in the industry. The 45 years old actress was then made to feel ugly in her young days, affecting her drastically and deeply as she lost the courage to see her face in front of a mirror.

While speaking to Prabhat Khabar Vidya stated, “In the recent times, I have received calls from them (producers who initially replaced her in their movies) but politely refused to be part of their films. I was kicked out of 13 films. When one producer replaced me in a film, their behaviour with me was very bad. They made me feel so ugly that for six months, I could not gather the courage to look at myself in the mirror.”

Moreover, the ‘Shakuntala Devi’ artist revealed being replaced in movies without anyone informing her. She elaborated, “I had signed two films with K Balanchander at a time when I was being replaced in many films. I got to know that I was also replaced in Balanchander’s films and I was not even informed. I could sense something was wrong because we were supposed to go to New Zealand for the shoot but they hadn’t even asked for my passport.”

Balan added, “When my mom called Balanchander’s daughter, we got to know that I had been replaced.” Vidya said that she was extremely angry and started walking from Marine Drive to Bandra even though it was very hot that day, “I realised I had been walking for hours. I cried a lot. Those memories are hazy now but whatever I touched in those three years, turned useless.”

On the professional front, Vidya Balan was last seen on screens in ‘Jalsa’ and ‘Neeyat’, both of which grabbed many eye-balls on the OTT Platforms and social media. The ‘Paa’ actress is currently working for her upcoming anticipated venture ‘Lovers’.
