TMC Spokesperson Kunal Ghosh Ridicules Mithun Chakraborty, Saying “Padma Bhushan” Conferred To Him For Disrespecting TMC

TMC Spokesperson Kunal Ghosh has called down the Padma Bhushan Award conferred to Mithun Chakraborty, saying the award is for his political shift between parties.

There are many Bollywood actors and celebrities who are active in Indian politics, like Jaya Bachchan, Urmila Matondkar, Gautam Gambhir, Dharmednra and many others. And Bollywood’s beloved Disco Dancer, Mithun Chakraborty is no exception to this. But his political involvement has been denounced by a Trinamool Congress spokesperson. Trinamool Congress Spokesperson Kunal Ghosh has called down the Padma Bhushan Award conferred to Mithun Chakraborty, saying the award is not for his talent in the acting field but for his political shift between parties.

Kunal Ghosh posted on X about this; he wrote, “The Padma Bhushan award is not any recognition of his acting talent. In that case, the award could have been conferred any time after 2014. Actually, it is an award for his dishonesty towards Trinamool Congress and subsequent slandering of the party.”

Mithun Chakraborty entered into the Indian political landscape in 2014 through Mamata Banerjee’s All India Trinamool Congress as Rajysabha MP, but before the 2021 West Bengal assembly election, he joined the BJP in Kolkata.  And this became a hit point for TMC members.

After Kunal Ghosh’s criticism, BJP president West Bengal Sukanta Mujumdar attacked him, securing the side of Mithun Da. Sukanta Mujumdar backlashes him, remembering his involvement in the Sardha Chit Fund Scam. He said, “A three-time national award-winning legendary actor has now been conferred the Padma Bhushan. And who is passing a slanderous comment on it? It is passed by someone who has spent three-years behind the bars. Kunal Ghosh is a resident of North Kolkata. Mithun Chakraborty too had spent his early life in North Kolkata. Now the people of north Kolkata will give a fitting reply to Ghosh for such slanderous comments.”

Mithun Chakraborty chose to be silent about this criticism. On the other hand, he expressed his gratitude for the prestigious Padma Bhushan Award, which was announced yesterday on January 26th.
