Shah Rukh Khan, often referred to as the undisputed “King of Bollywood,” has once again proven his box office prowess with his latest release, “Jawan.” The film has shattered all records, crossing the ₹500 crore mark at the box office and earning praise from fans both in India and around the world.
King Khan’s eagerly awaited movie, “Dunki,” directed by the dynamic filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, is set to grace the screens this Christmas.
As reported, “Dunki” delves into immigration issues and follows the journey of a hardworking individual aspiring to immigrate abroad for a better life. While the film may incorporate significant Punjabi influences, it does not revolve around illegal immigration attempts in countries like the U.S. and Canada.
According to a report in India Today, “Dunki” explores immigration but is not specifically related to Indians residing in Canada or Canada in general.
“Dunki” features a star-studded cast, including Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani, and Dia Mirza in significant roles. The movie’s screenplay is penned by Abhijat Joshi, known for his contributions to most of Rajkumar Hirani’s films. Produced jointly by Shah Rukh Khan’s production house, Red Chillies Entertainment, and Rajkumar Hirani, the film will be released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
Trade analysts are already predicting that Khan’s Christmas release will surpass the collections of his earlier releases this year, “Pathaan” and “Jawan,” potentially becoming the biggest blockbuster in Bollywood’s history, with a global collection expected to comfortably cross the ₹1,000 crore mark.
Furthermore, “Dunki” marks Rajkumar Hirani’s next directorial venture after the success of “Sanju” in 2018. Audiences are eagerly anticipating the film, as Hirani’s creations are known for their unique plots, social messaging, and engaging screenplays. Hirani holds a unique position in the industry, with each of his films being critically acclaimed and consistently entertaining viewers.
