Shah Rukh Khan has a sparking year ahead with three major releases. The superstar has an excellent lineup of upcoming projects including Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki. After the release of the Pathaan teaser, his fans are going gaga and eagerly waiting for the movie’s release. Amid this, his next project Atlee’s directorial Jawan landed in trouble.
A Tamil film producer, Manickam Narayanan, accused Jawan’s director Atlee of plagiarism. Narayan claimed Jawan is based on the story of his 2006 film Perarasu. Owing to the plotline the film has been charged with plagiarism. South filmmaker Manickam Narayan has filed a complaint against it with the TFPC – Tamil Film Producers Council.
According to Times of India reports, Narayanan filed a complaint against Atlee at the TFPC accusing the stories of Jawan and Perarasu are same. However, the filmmaker claims that he owns the rights to the story. Hence, TFPC has agreed to launch an investigation but will be pursuing it only after November 7.
Talking about Perarasu, it is about twin brothers Ilavarasu & Perarasu who are on the opposite side of the law & clash over what they believe in. The 2006 action crime film featured Vijayakanth in a dual role. While not much has been known about the plot of Jawan, SRK is said to be playing a dual role of father and son. Jawan makers are yet to reveal the storyline of the movie.
Jawan is Shah Rukh Khan’s first collaboration with South director Atlee. He will be joined by Nayanthara as the leading lady and Vijay Sethupathi is expected to play the antagonist. The biggest action entertainer is slated to release on 2nd June 2023 across five languages – Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. The movie is produced by Gauri Khan and presented by the actor’s home company Red Chillies Entertainment.
