Richa Chadha Predicted Future Of Bollywood Films, What Exactly She Said

She continued saying, "filmmakers, producers are bending over backwards to secure their investment in a film by getting a deal from a platform before the release. And that is the reason movies like Masaan and Newtown are not made anymore."

Bold, beautiful, talented and graceful Bollywood actress Richa Chadha has always been in the limelight due to her straight forwardness. She is capable enough to put her opinions in front of everyone. Recently, in an interview with Jist, she was open about many things. The current situation of cinema, theatres, interrelation of audience and ticket pricing, OTT etc. on this topic she really elaborated her views with knowledge of that particular topic. She almost predicted the future of Bollywood films.

When she was asked about which kind of films filmmakers nowadays do or what you miss in today’s era of film, she explained many things like entertainment tax, exhibitor tax, profit, landing costs and promotional costs. She said, “Nowadays, OTT platforms have become smart. They first ask you to release a film in theatres, they observe how hit your film is and then accordingly they give your film a particular slab. And of course, they have certain limitations, they will always go with their algorithms, which are mainly young, adult, sex, action or horror. So, producers will not go against these algorithms and won’t make any film other than these genres.”

She continued saying, “filmmakers, producers are bending over backwards to secure their investment in a film by getting a deal from a platform before the release. And that is the reason movies like Masaan and Newtown are not made anymore.”

Ahead explaining about ticket prices she added, “South industry have cap their ticket prices, they never cross the price after a particular limit. If you know a recession is there and you are still keeping the price of a ticket at 300/400, it won’t work. No common man will spend his five thousand on a weekend watching a film at a Multiplex. And thus, big stakeholders have to take a call to keep ticket prices cap. There is fun watching movies in a single screen theatre and their prices never go above 150. But in multiplexes, there happens an intimation of the ticket price, which common man can’t afford.”

She mentioned that a metamorphosis is on the way and it will change the current scenario soon.
