After the arrest of Rhea Chakraborty this afternoon, her lawyer Satish Maneshinde has condemned the action taken against her. He also targeted late actor Sushant Singh Rajput by calling him a ‘drug addict’. He said in a public statement, “Travesty of Justice. 3 Central agencies hounding a single woman just because she was in love with a drug addict and was suffering from Mental Health issues for several years under the care of 5 leading psychiatrists in Mumbai, who ended up committing suicide due to consumption of illegally administered medicines and used drugs.”
He had earlier claimed that Sushant used to take drugs even before Rhea came into his life. Even Rhea said the same while giving an interview to a leading channel a few days ago.
Rhea’s lawyer had said, “Sushant Singh Rajput as a matter of fact was consuming drugs much before Rhea came in his life. Rhea knows that he was consuming drugs even on the sets of ‘Kedarnath’ when it was being shot in 2016-2017. It is not an addiction that he acquired after Rhea came in his life. He was consuming drugs even against medical advice. It is a case of a person who consumed it against medical advice and requests from Rhea. He enjoyed it in his life time and died.”
Talking about Rhea’s arrest, she has been charged under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. She has been taken to a hospital for medical test. Her brother Showik Chakraborty is also in the custody of NCB.
