Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal Reason Behind Removal Of CBFC CEO Ravinder Bhakar?

As per the latest reports, it is believed that the removal of Ravinder Bhakar, CEO of the Censor Board of Film Certification is related to Ranbir Kapoor's film, Animal.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film, Animal has again grabbed the headlines. Recently Ravinder Bhakar, now the ex-CEO of the Censor Board of Film Certification was charged with corruption. Following this he was removed from his position. Meanwhile, post his removal Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal was also dragged into the controversy.

A source has told Times Now that Bhakar’s removal from CBFC is linked with Ranbir Kapoor’s film Animal. As quoted by the portal, the source said, “Questions are being raised as to how a film so steeped in violence and abuse and so unapologetically misogynistic could be allowed a censor certificate. Animal breaks many guidelines of censorship. Giving an A certificate and not cutting those objectionable scenes of violence, especially against women, is now raging controversy in the nation and within the I&B ministry.”

Animal Controversy

For the unversed, many viewers and netizens claimed that the film was full of misogynist content. From audience to critics, people slammed the makers and the film for portraying and promoting violence, toxicity, misogynistic content, and nudity in the film.

However, despite major criticism and backlash, the film managed to perform exceptionally well at the box office due to its huge hype and buzz. Animal has crossed the 500cr domestically and 800cr mark with its worldwide box office collections, becoming one of the biggest blockbuster hits of the year.

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga Animal is an action drama Pan Indian film featuring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role alongside Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead. Apart from them, the film features Bobby Deol as the main antagonist and Anil Kapoor as Ranbir’s father. The film was released in theatres on 1st December.
