Khufiya Actress Wamiqa Gabbi, Who Is Making Headlines For This Reason, Says, ‘My Confidence Was Shattered’

Wamiqa Revealed That When She Moved From Chandigarh To Mumbai, Her Confidence Was Shattered

Actress Wamiqa Gabbi is making headlines with her bold and passionate scenes in the movie “Khufiya,” which also stars Tabu, Ali Fazal, and Ashish Vidyarthi, among others. The movie premiered on OTT on October 5 and is directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. Regarding Wamiqa, some scenes from the movie were leaked on social media, including a sensual scene with Ali and another video which has gone viral also shows the actress smoking and dancing to the popular song “Ye Jawaani Hai Deewani” in sexy lingerie.

However, the journey of the actress to the big screen was not easy. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Wamiqa revealed that when she moved from Chandigarh to Mumbai, her confidence was shattered.

“I was just this little girl with dreams who thought she would arrive in Bombay, and the city would flourish because of her presence. I had this bubble when I was in Chandigarh, and that bubble burst soon enough. I understood that the world was not revolving around me. I faced rejection again and again. I won’t say they were at fault; I was also not working on myself or my craft. I became under-confident during those eight or nine years. My confidence was shattered. I was as confident as I was underconfident in Chandigarh due to the rejections. I was pampered and the only girl in my family, and Mumbai gave me that reality check.”

Wamiqa recalled feeling low and doubtful of herself at that time. She said, “During those times, I remember feeling very low and doubtful about myself and my craft. I kept comparing myself to others and their journeys, always wanting to be someone else. At that time, I felt anxiety and uneasiness, not peace. I was not happy with my work. I thought I was done and did not want to be an actor anymore. I just wanted to save some money and travel the world to explore myself.” It was around this time that she got a chance to audition for the Netflix original “Midnight’s Children.”

Between her brief appearance in “Jab We Met” and her noticeable role in the film “83,” Wamiqa dabbled extensively in regional cinema before finding the right projects in the world of OTT.

Her upcoming projects include starring opposite Varun Dhawan in “VD18.” She also has the Punjabi film “Kikli” and the Tamil movie “Genie” in her pipeline.
