Khuda Haafiz Star Vidyut Jammwal Loves To Be Typecast

Vidyut Jammwal spoke on being typecast as an action star

Vidyut Jammwal has established himself as one of the best action heroes in the Indian film industry. He has delivered remarkable work as an actioner in the Commando series, Baadshaho, Force, and Khuda Haafiz to name a few. The actor has always been seen performing stunts in all his films throughout a decade-long career. When questioned about being approached for similar roles Vidyut Jammwal said he loves to be typecast.

Listed among the world’s top martial artists, the actor says he is in a happy place doing action films. The 41 years old actor released the second installment of Khuda Haafiz two days back. Stunts alone don’t determine his film choices as Vidyut Jammwal spoke on being typecast as an action star.

Jammwal told PTI: “I’m happy to be defined by action. I feel proud of being typecast. It’s not an easy place to be in when you get typecast for being the best at what you do.”

The actor always looks for a reason behind stunts. He explained the point stating: “For me, it’s always been either fighting for the country in ‘Commando’ or going and saving the animals in ‘Junglee’, as nobody does it. In ‘Khuda Haafiz’, it’s about a common man who has never been in a fight.”

Vidyut played the role of a common man in Khuda Haafiz who moves to a new city to save his wife and fights for the first time in life. Talking about his role in the film the actor said: “Playing this character was unusual for me because he (Sameer) has never fought in his life. He is fighting from his mind and his heart. For me to untrain myself as a fighter was the most challenging thing. Everybody asks me ‘What’s your dream role?’ but I’ve never had one. Now I can say playing this untrained common man was exciting.”

Khuda Haafiz: Chapter 2 Agni Pariksha was released in theaters this Friday while the first part was aired on OTT during the lockdown when cinema halls were shut. The Khuda Haafiz movie series is written and directed by Faruk Kabir. Vidyut Jammwal and Shivaleeka Oberoi are roped in the lead roles.

Vidyut next has IB71 in his kitty, the film marks his foray into film productions. The actor announced this movie last year.
