Joram was released on December 8 and till date there hasn’t been much talk about this film. Yes, you are right, the reasons are Ranbir Kapoor’s “Animal” and, of course, “Sam Bahadur” a little. In the box office counting of Animal, Joram disappeared somewhere. It couldn’t attract lots of an audience and now the makers have expressed their disappointment.
Talking about the film with News 18, Manoj Bajpayee said that the entire team was very well aware of the clash they would be facing with “Animal“ and “Sam Bahadur” but they really could not spend much on the publicity for the movie. Ahead he continued, “It’s like our key responsibility has changed completely.” While saying this he elaborated on the marketing and publicity of the film, which has become a main factor in the film rather than the story basis. He said that the makers are rushing to tell people that their movie is a winner and that has changed the focus behind making.
Manoj Bajpayee talked about the different genre of the film, its scope and therefore, the makers didn’t put any kind of pressure in regard to earnings at the box office. Manoj Bajpayee is one of the most versatile actors in the industry, and he has never run behind the box office figures, whereas his interest always relies on content. He further said that, nowadays, people have started talking in numbers. Box office figures have become a topic of concern for the common man. He said, “They feel that if a film has collected Rs. 100 crore or above, it’s a very good film and that it qualifies for all kinds of honors in this country.”
In this race, the pure, social content of this film, which reflects the line between privileged and disadvantaged groups of society, the survival process of both groups has remained undiscovered; it has been lost in the race of action films.
