“If Flights Can Resume, Why Can’t Cinemas,” Asks A Producer

The domestic airlines have resumed their operations after two months of lockdown in India. However, a film producer feels that if flights can resume, why can’t cinemas? Producer Tanujj Garg posted on Twitter, “If flights can resume, why can’t cinemas? The exposure to each other is virtually the same in both cases.” His statement didn’t go very well with netizens who trolled him for the same. One user wrote, “These ppl seem to be so obsessed about cinemas … when the liquor shops got reopened they were the first ones to rant and now they are yelling cinemas open krdo.” Another user pointed out the difference between flights and cinemas and wrote, “God! Flights are essentials….and extremely critical considering the covid19 situation and families staying away …. Cinema is a luxury….which we cannot afford to have at this stage….” Another user tweeted, “Feels like lockdown has locked down the brains as well. Comparison between flights and cinemas … “ Well, people for sure, are not yet ready to go to cinemas. Even several filmmakers have turned to OTT platforms for the release of their films. This includes Gulabo Sitabo and Shakuntala Devi.
