After a long wait, Rajkumar Hirani’s much-awaited and highly-anticipated film, Dunki was released in theatres on 21 December, 2023. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani, and Vicky Kaushal the film opened to “mixed” reviews from critics and moviegoers. Following the same, Dunki took off with a good start at the box office earning 30cr, however, the film opened lower than expected.
Dunki Box Office Collection Day 1
Shah Rukh Khan starrer Dunki was a much-anticipated Bollywood film. Marking SRK’s first collaboration with Rajkumar Hirani, the film was expected to open at a high number at the box office. However, the film failed to register great numbers at the box office on its opening day and fell short of the expectations.
As per Sacnilk.com, Dunki collected a total of 30cr at the box office on its opening day. Dunki’s opening day collections paled in comparison with SRK’s previous two blockbuster hits Jawan (75cr) and Pathaan (106cr). On the other hand, Dunki even couldn’t cross the opening day collection of Adipurush (36cr).
However, although the film had an underrated start at the box office, Dunki still managed to score better than films like Sam Bahadur (Rs 6.25 crores), Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (Rs 15.81 crore), Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (Rs 11.1 crore), and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (Rs 15.73 crore) among others.
Dunki is expected to see further growth through the weekend and Christmas. However, as per the reports, Dunki will be facing tough competition with Prashanth Neel’s, Salaar which is expected to open higher than Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki.
