Late Actor Dev Anand’s Iconic Juhu Bungalow Sells For A Staggering Rs 400 Crore

Dev Anand Made The Decision To Construct A Residence In Juhu, It Was A Relatively Obscure Locality

Dev Anand’s cherished Juhu bungalow, where he once resided with his wife Kalpana Kartik and children Suniel Anand and Devina Anand, has been sold for an astounding sum of Rs 400 crore, as reported by Hindustan Times.

According to a source cited by HT, the sale to a real estate company has been finalized, and the paperwork is currently underway. The staggering price tag is attributed to the prime location, surrounded by the residences of prominent industrialists in the area.

An insider residing in close proximity to Anand’s former home revealed, “Actors like Madhuri Dixit Nene and Dimple Kapadia also once lived in the apartments around the bungalow. The place will now be replaced by a 22-floor tower.”

The decision to sell the property was made due to the absence of any occupants or caretakers, as disclosed by a source. “His son Suniel stays in the US, whereas daughter Devina lives in Ooty along with mother Kalpana Kartik. There is no one in Mumbai to take care of the property, and hence they have decided to sell off the bungalow. In fact, they had also sold some property in Panvel, Maharashtra, for the same reason.”

Another source informed HT that the proceeds from the sale would be divided equally among the family members. “One was given to Suniel, another to Devina, and the third to his wife Kalpana. So, for the Juhu property, everyone will get a share.”

When Dev Anand made the decision to construct a residence in Juhu, it was a relatively obscure locality. In previous interviews, he had revealed that his choice was influenced by his admiration for the area’s untamed natural surroundings. He stated, “I built my Juhu house in 1950. Juhu was a quaint village back then, with complete wilderness. I was drawn to it because I cherish solitude. However, Juhu has now become significantly more populated, particularly on Sundays. The beach is no longer the same. My Iris Park residence no longer boasts a park; instead, there is a school and four bungalows right across from my place,” in an interview with a media outlet.
