After winning over the hearts of the audience back in 2005 Bunty Aur Babli is set to release its sequel in 2020. YRF took on their Instagram earlier this day to announce this news. YRF posted a photo of their new cast who will replace the original Bunty and Babli, and it consists of charming Siddhant Chaturvedi who is to replace Abhishek Bachchan alongside a new face to replace Rani Mukherji. The newcomer’s name is Sharvari, she was spotted by YRF last year and they have decided to give the youngster a chance. Everyone is familiar with Siddhant Chaturvedi as he became a household name after his charismatic role as MC Sher in the movie Gully Boy. Siddhant received a lot of praise and appreciation from the audience and the critics as well for the excellent portrayal of the character as an underground rapper. To add more glory to his success he also received the Most Promising Newcomer (Male) award in the recent Star Screen Awards, for which he thanked his fans and mainly his parents for showing their love and support for him and the movie.
Like the original movie, the sequel is also to be made under the YRF banner, produced by Aditya Chopra but with a new director and writer Varun Sharma. Varun expressed his joy for being a part of this much-awaited project. He also put forth his views about what he thought about the casting of the film, he said, “Bunty Aur Babli is completely set in the new times. Siddhant already caught everyone’s eye with his brilliant acting debut in Gully Boy and became the nation’s heartthrob. We are extremely excited to have him play the role of Bunty. He is a superb actor, extremely charming and fits the role perfectly.” Talking about the newcomer Sharvari he commented, “Sharvari is an extremely special actress to watch out for. She is a powerful performer and you have to see for her on-screen to understand what we mean. Siddhant and Sharvari are a fresh, hot pair and their energy is infectious which makes them suited for their respective roles in this film.”
The original Bunty Aur Babli starring Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukherji, as Rakesh and Saluja was a blockbuster hit. The movie focused on the lives of these two individuals who come together and conned people to reach their unfulfilled dreams. The movie was nominated in 13 award shows out of which it won 4, 3 for music and 1 for Best Jodi. The sequel is said to take a leap of 10 years. According to the sources, the filming for the sequel has already begun and soon the fans will get further updates about the same. Everyone is definitely ready to witness Bunty Aur Babli on the big screen again after almost 20 years, and new pair in the same adds more hype.
