Bollywood Actors Who Got Married Before Turning 20

Check out the names of four leading Bollywood actors who got married when they were teenagers.

There’s no right age to get married. One should settle down in a nuptial knot whenever both partners are ready- emotionally, physically, mentally and financially. In the Indian film industry, we have seen Bollywood actors marrying late with a fear that their careers might get affected. However, some celebs tied the knot even before they turned 20. Here’s a list:

1. Dharmendra

Dharmendra’s first marriage was to Prakash Kaur, and it took place when he was quite young, at the age of 19. This marriage happened before Dharmendra’s entry into the film industry. They have two sons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, who are also prominent actors in Bollywood. The couple also has two daughters who stay away from the limelight.

When Dharmendra became a superstar, he fell in love with Hema Malini. Dharmendra wanted to divorce Prakash Kaur, who is a housewife. Prakash refused to give divorce and Dharmendra converted to Islam to marry Hema. Dharmendra is still married to Prakash and Hema.

2. Divya Bharti

Divya Bharti got married to film producer Sajid Nadiadwala in 1992 when she was just around 18 years old. Their marriage was kept a relatively low profile and was not widely known in the public domain. Tragically, Divya Bharti’s life was cut short when she passed away in 1993 under circumstances that remain the subject of speculation and investigation.

3. Dimple Kapadia

Dimple Kapadia married Rajesh Khanna, a legendary Bollywood actor, in March 1973. At the time of their marriage, Dimple was just 16 years old, while Rajesh Khanna was 31. Their wedding was a high-profile event in the Indian film industry and generated significant media attention. They had two daughters, Twinkle Khanna and Rinkie Khanna. However, their marriage faced challenges, and they separated in 1982, although they never officially divorced. Despite the separation, Dimple Kapadia continued her career in the film industry and went on to become a respected actress in her own right.

4. Moushumi Chatterjee

Veteran actress Moushumi Chatterjee was in 10th standard when she got engaged to Hemant Kumar’s son Jayant Mukherjee. It was an arranged marriage. At the age of 17, Moushumi became a mother. The couple had two daughters – Payal and Meghaa. The elder daughter (Payal) passed away in 2019 at the age of 45.
