Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 Director Anees Bazmee Opens Up On Hindi Films Failure At Box Office

Unlike Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan among many others, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is one of the biggest blockbuster hits of the year in the Bollywood industry. Meanwhile, Bhool Bhulaiyaa’s director Anees Bazmee recently opened up on the failure of the Hindi films at the box office and said, “We need to learn that we need to make good quality films”.

The Bollywood industry is indeed going through a down phase, with much-anticipated and big budgets films like Samrat Prithviraj, Laal Singh Chaddha, Raksha Bandhan, and others failing at the box office, it is now becoming hard to perform well at the theatres. However, there are still many exceptional films that went on to get a good response from the audience including Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi and Kartik Aaryan starrer film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.

Opening up about the same the Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 director Anees Bazmee recently opened up on the Hindi film’s failure at the box office. In an interview with E Times, he said, “We need to learn that we need to make good quality films. Whatever the audiences liked 5-10 years ago, they don’t like it anymore. Because they have global exposure. They have watched content from across the world during the pandemic while sitting at home for free. So now, if you want them to step out of their homes and buy a ticket to watch a film in the theatre, you need to give them something better.”

He further talked about the ongoing North vs South debate and called it “pointless”. He said, “Mujhe iss baat mein koi dum nahin lagta.” He concluded by saying, “Both the film industries are existing for many years and have been making good films. Hindi films have been remade in the south and vice versa. There are talented directors and actors in both industries. If you want to talk about only the 3 hits and not the 13 flops, it’s pointless. Because every year almost 200 films are made in India out of which 5-7 become hits. So, this time those 3 films from the south were very good and worked aur humari filmein nahin chali. That’s all there is”.

The Anees Bazmee directorial horror comedy film, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 ended its run at the box office with a worldwide collection of Rs 250 crore. Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa have also surpassed Alia Bhatt’s starter Gangubai Kathiawadi records. Directed by Anees Bazmee and written by Aakash Kaushik and Farhad Samji, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, is a sequel to the 2007 film Bhool Bhulaiyaa starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, and Shiney Ahuja in the leads.
