Bollywood actress Nimmi, who marked her career debut with Raj Kapoor‘s ‘Barsaat‘ in front of the camera, passed away on Wednesday. The 88-year old actress took her last breathe at a hospital Juhu after being admitted there for suffering from breathlessness.
A source announced the sad news by saying, “She passed away this evening. She had been unwell for quite some time. She had been in and out of hospital this year.”
In a social media post, Rishi Kapoor recalled the veteran actress, sharing how she had supported his film ‘Bobby’. Rishi Kapoor tweeted, “RIP. Thank you Nimmi aunty for all the blessings and love for Bobby on its premiere release. You were part of the RK family. Barsaat was your first film. Allha aapko Jannat naseeb kare. Ameen.”
Apart from Rishi Kapoor, Mahesh Bhatt also sent condolences to the yesteryear star and tweeted, “You may win your hearts desire, but in the end you are cheated of it by death.” Goodbye Nimmiji.”
Born as Nawab Banoo, she was given the screen name Nimmi by Raj Kapoor. She received acclaim for her performance in movies such as ‘Daag’ ‘Aan’ and’ Mere Mehboob’ to name just a few.
